Surfurs come from all over the World to
the Central Chile coast of Pichilemu to ride waves as part of the
traditional international tour of famious surf spots. In South
America, it is one of the most famious and has atracted international
surfing competions in recent years and some of the more famious
surfurs in the World.
Pichilemu is very much a general
tourist town also, with plenty of restaurants, hotels, cabins, and
the standard fair you find around Chile. Your average tourist tends
to migrate towards Pichilemu from the Santa Cruze Colchagua Wine
valley about 40 mins by bus away.
Pichilemu is starting to move beyond
its reputation as only a summer vacation spot for Chileans, and an
international beach bum hangout. Progresivly it is starting to atract
a year around expat and international foreign retiry community that
calls Pichilemu coast home.
Accordingly land prices have started to
climb, but not absurdly considering we are talking about beaches that
rival Malibue, Calififornia less the crowds. Pichilemu is still a
relatively small town with a population of no more than 5,000
including the surrounding area.
